Here is a still from the latest instalment of the BBC television adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes saga. Set in modern day London, and it would appear that this incarnation of Sherlock is a karate black belt maybe? Check out his Shotokan shodan(?) certificate on the wall above his bed. Nice!
It is quite a clear image - and I think that with a little bit of sleuthing (pun intended) it should be quite easy to discover who this certificate really belongs to. Kudos to the BBC if they have gone to the trouble of having the name Sherlock Holmes translated into kanji and placed onto an official looking certificate (although that, of course, would be fraudulent - but awesome!). If anyone out there has the time to find out the real identity of the mystery karateka who this belongs to, please leave a comment on this page and let us all know.
